August 8, 2011 – SOUTHFIELD, Michigan – EHIM CEO and founder Mindi Fynke announced recently the company is a Supporting Sponsor for the inaugural Spontaneous Combustion Motor City festival on August 11 at Go Comedy! in Ferndale, Michigan. The festival is being presented in partnership with The Basement Theatre of Atlanta, Georgia.

Spontaneous Combustion Motor City will feature established and emerging talent from theatre, television, and film who have roots in improvisation, including festival headliners The 313 – former Detroiters who now perform in Los Angeles. The festival runs from Wednesday, August 10 through Sunday, August 14 and will offer two hour, public improvisation workshops on Saturday and Sunday. Festival organizers also have partnered with the Judson Center and Havenwyck Residential to provide free improv workshops to their kids during the festival.

Keith Faigin, EHIM’s Chief Information Officer, will be performing during the festival. He is an understudy in the “Go Comedy! All-Star Showdown,” an improvised game show every Friday and Saturday night at Go Comedy! 

“The improv festival  promises to be an amazing event,” he said. “It is going to be a chance to see some world-class talent from around the country and from right here in Detroit.  And, most importantly, it will be hilariously entertaining for the audience.  When you bring this much talent and creativity together in one place you know that the results are really going to be something special.

“A lot of people see these performances and say ‘there’s no way you made that up… you must have planned that out.’  Nope.  It’s all improvised.  Even this quote is completely improvised. It was, in no way, typed in an email to our Marketing Department and then carefully proofed and edited.”

Keith began doing improv in the late 80’s but, after falling in with the wrong crowd, took to doing stand-up in the 90’s.  He hit rock bottom in 1994 when he won the ‘Funniest Man in Peoria, Illinois’ contest.  Keith is proud to put that dark chapter of his life behind him.  A graduate of the Second City training center, he is a founding member of the improv troupe ‘Battlestar Metallica’ and is a member of ‘Final End Game’ which appeared weekly at Go Comedy! from April, 2010 through March, 2011.  He also does some CIOing for EHIM.

The roots of the festival emerged in 2006, when Becky Brett of Ferndale crossed paths at the Chicago Improv Festival with Atlanta talent JStar (of The Basement Theatre). Three years later, the two decided Atlanta needed a professional improv festival, and Spontaneous Combustion Atlanta was born in 2009.
